El Museo del Barrio and Comité Noviembre have partnered up to host the 16th Annual Day of Community Service & Social Responsibility, taking place on Sunday, November 20, 2011. On this day, we will distribute in collaboration with The Yorkville Pantry, food care packages to 75 pre-selected underserved families from El Barrio at El Museo's El Taller in anticipation of the Thanksgiving holiday.

La Casa de la Herencia Cultural Puertorriqueña presents "Bongo Passion"
La Casa de la Herencia Cultural Puertorriqueña (Puerto Rican Cultural Heritage House), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Spain in New York, Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and El Museo del Barrio, presents, Bongo Passion, a rhythm and color filled concert built around three electrifying classical works with bongos.
Julia de Burgos Commemorative Stamp
On September 14, 2010, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Postal Service™ issued a 44–cent, Julia de Burgos commemorative stamp, designed by Howard E. Paine. Part of the U.S. Postal Service® Literary Arts series, this beautiful stamp honors one of Puerto Rico’s most celebrated poets. The stamp features a portrait of Burgos, created by artist Jody Hewgill.
The Richie Perez Scholarship Award
In memory of the beloved activist, Comité Noviembre established the Richie Pérez Scholarship Award. The award recognizes a Puerto Rican young person for their commitment, activism and achievements in any of the areas of human rights and social justice that Richie held so dear. This annual award will both promote the advancement of new leaders in the movement for peace and justice, and also invest in their continued growth by providing support for their ongoing education and political development.
